White House Reveals Date for Gaza Peace Summit

(MENAFN) The Trump administration is organizing a high-stakes Gaza "Board of Peace" leaders' summit scheduled for February 19 to push forward the ceasefire's second phase and secure reconstruction funds for the devastated Palestinian enclave, media revealed Friday through US and diplomatic channels.

A US official told media: "It will be the first Board of Peace meeting and a fundraising conference for Gaza reconstruction."

Washington has initiated contact with dozens of nations to extend invitations and coordinate arrangements for the event, which is anticipated to take place at the Institute of Peace in the capital, the report indicated.

One source explained to media: "Nothing has been confirmed yet, but the administration is planning it and has started checking which leaders are able to attend."

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is slated to hold talks with US President Donald Trump on February 18—just one day ahead of the proposed conference. While Netanyahu has agreed to Trump's request for Israeli participation on the board, he has yet to formally endorse its founding document.

Should Netanyahu participate, the gathering would represent his first open-forum engagement with Arab and Muslim heads of state since the October 7 offensive by Palestinian resistance faction Hamas and Israel's ensuing military campaign across Gaza.

The arrangement details are still preliminary and subject to revision. The White House provided no official statement on the matter.
