Trump Expresses Optimism for Gaza Ceasefire
Speaking to journalists before leaving the White House for the inauguration of a temporary immigration holding facility in Florida, he said, "We hope (a ceasefire) is going to happen and we're looking for it to happen sometime next week."
Trump revealed that discussions about Gaza, alongside Iran, are scheduled during his upcoming meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Washington, DC.
He noted, "He's coming here. We're going to talk about a lot of things. We're going to talk about the great success we had in Iran ... We're also going to talk about Gaza."
These statements follow Netanyahu’s confirmation that he will travel to Washington next week to meet with American leaders.
According to a newspaper, he stated ahead of a cabinet session, "I am due to leave next week for meetings in the US with US President Donald Trump."
Netanyahu further disclosed he is scheduled to hold discussions with Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Trump’s Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff, and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick.
